Animal Welfare Course Presenters

Ross Davies

Ross has considerable experience in the meat industry and is currently Director of the Meat Courses at Massey University. He has conducted a number of welfare audits for companies seeking to better understand how their animal welfare strategies are working.

Ross established Achieve Enterprises, which is an organisation actively involved in quality and compliance systems within the wider food industry, but with particular focus on the animal based industries.

Per Madie

Per has had a wealth of experience in the animal welfare area. He is recently retired from the staff of the Institute of Veterinary and Animal Biological Sciences of Massey University (IVABS). Before joining Massey Per was a regional Meat Plant veterinarian and has worked in a number of countries and environments.

He has particular interest in animal welfare and has been a major contributor to the feild especially in the area of humane slaughter.
